Dave, I believe other "make up" opportunities should be available in all college classes as you expressed. Having first hand experience I believe if people try harder they wouldn't have to have make up marks. Lessons learned: stay focused.
you should aways be aware of the due dates for assignments so that you are prepared for class if you are not then you will fall behind. i believe if people try harder they wont have to make up for there tardiness so be on time and don't forget those due dates
Being aware of due dates for assignment and projects is a very important task. You can fall behind and lose tons of marks for missing due dates, that can reflect on your grade big time. I believe if people try harder they wont have to make up marks. You should always hand stuff in on time.
I think you have to have an order of importance, but sometimes things become more important based on their due date! I have a tendency to make my to do lists and do the "fun" and quick things first...it does whittle down the list quicker! And then I can focus on the harder tasks. But it really is to find out what works best for you in the long run. It doesn't always matter how you get there, but that you get there....

Due dates are put in place for a reason, not only for the students but for the teachers. The students need to keep up with due dates or they risk loosing points off their final grade because of it . From the teachers standpoint they need to have things passed in on time so they can continue with the course and not loose time correcting past due work or tracking people down who are late on assignments

Due Dates are integral parts of the working world, However, if there is a due date, it should be posted. I didn't see any notification of a due date for this specific project. If I had of known that it was required Friday and not after that the assignment in question would have been on time.
Due dates are very important and should be taken more serious than they are because it can make or break you at the end of the semester. If people don't have due dates then they won't have the motivation to do the work.
it may seem ironic this late in the semester but its always important to make sure that due dates are met and that all ends are tied up, because sometimes other courses may seem more important, but in the end a requirement is a requirement and due dates need to be respected,
