Hi Dave. Thank you for sharing the link on how to build a shed- very informative. I like how each of their subsystems have an individual video rather than joining them all into one long video. I like how the example used in the video was made to look the same as the house (colonial). That being said, I think it's very tacky how all sides of the house aren't the same.
Seeing how we are building the roof for our shed this week, I think we should focus on this subsection. Thanks
Hey Dave, The shed building video was good, the step by step process was very accurate. I didn't, however, like that you had to input personal information to make an online fine homebuilding account in order to view the videos. Youtube would probably be a better option because it is much less invasive a system. People are wary of putting their personal information online, some may not want to watch the video because of this.
Question: Which one of the five subsystems for our project do you want to work on this week? Answer: I have chosen to work in the wall framing group because I have done a fair bit of framing this summer and am knowledgeable in this subsection.
Dave, The shed building video was very well put together, it explained everything in a simple manor and provided multiple methods of completing different tasks (ex. the different exterior finishes). Although I think the different exteriors are a bit unorthodox I realize that may be the norm in New England [Go Patriots ;)] and would definitely help with cost efficiency. Also, I agree with the previous comment by Angela and don't like that the video requires a registration basically as this consumes time for something I could find just as quickly without having to give any personal information. As far as the subsystems go, I chose wall framing because I have the most experience framing walls and am the most comfortable explaining/teaching that process to others. -Alex T-
Hey Dave. The video makes building the shed easier to follow, because it breaks it down into smaller parts instead of taking everything on at once, and easily getting overwhelmed. one thing i do not agree with is building the shed on blocks as it would not be level and strong as building the shed on sona tubes. Also it would be at risk when the ground freezes and changes. The subsystem i chose is floor framing because i feel comfortable working on this as it is just basic layout. Alex Parkinson
Hey Dave, I liked the shed building video it was put together well and easy to understand , And i liked how the video showed you different ways to complete different tasks.
I also would chose windows, doors, and trim to work on
Hey Dave, I really liked how the video was divided into multiple parts labeled well. It really made it easy to find parts that you didn't understand or needed more clarification on.
Hi Dave, I really enjoyed watching the shed videos. They were a lot of help and more of a refresher of what I knew before. watching the roof framing portion was a lot of help because that is what I'm currently doing on my shed.
Thanks for sharing the videos it was a good refresher of what I already knew from my work placement over the summer, further more I like how the videos are broken up into the subsections to make it easier to reference instead of trying to find a certain time when they start the walls or the time in the video they start the roof.. I've decided to do my project on the subsection for the walls because I framed must of the summer
Hey Dave. Great videos on how to build a shed, also it is much easier when the videos are in their own system section that way if your stuck on one part you can just go watch the video and get back to work. Time is money.
The question you asked was:
Which one of the five subsystems for our project do you want to work on this week?
I would like to work on fall framing has I did a lot of it over the summer and have got good at it.
Hey Dave, awesome videos if anyone was trying to build a shed they could watch these step by step set of videos and they would know how to build one. I like that they are separated the way they are. Great videos all around. The group i chose was floor framing
hey Dave, the videos are easy to fallow and put together well and it helps that they are separated so you can re-watch each step in stead of having to go through a much longer video. I chose the group of trim windows and doors
Thanks for another interesting carpentry link Dave.
The fact that the video creators sectioned the building into easy to follow and layout steps was fairly interesting, the fact it also goes into a few different options for siding, shelving and storage was also helpful.

Hey Dave,
ReplyDeleteThe video is put together well and easy to understand. Splitting everything into subsystems seems to make it even more simple. I like this approach.

Also, the subsystem I have chosen to work on is wall framing.

hey dave nice videos on how to build a shed i like that it is sectioned into different parts. This is an easier way for me to do such.

anwser: installing trim windows and doors. because i did a few trim jobs over the summer and it something i feel alright with doing.
